"É BATATA !" - A TIO SAMBA (UNCLE SAMBA)'s dedication to the 100 years from Carmen Miranda's birth (special guest SIMONE LIAL)

CENTRO CULTURAL CARIOCA

Considered as "a typical samba orchestra", the band celebrates the birth centennial of the greatest singer in the Golden Era, performing under new arrangements sambas from her repertoire, some of them popular classics like “Na Baixa do Sapateiro”, by Ary Barroso, “Alô, Alô”, by André Filho and “Adeus Batucada”, by Synval Silva. As well as others not so well-known like “Fon Fon”, by Braguinha and Alberto Ribeiro, and “Gira”, also by Ary Barroso. Within this celebrating show, Tio Samba highlights a not much exploited universe in dedications to the honored singer: the duets. That way, great part of the songs in the show will be performed by Carlos Mauro, the band's singer, and by the guest singer Simone Lial in her highly special appearance. “É Batata!” tries on the revival of the 1930's spirit - a time in which everything was joy, and occuring griefs were faced with fine irony which then would give out inspiration to master-piece classics of the Brazilian popular music.
